Welcome to the Guild Launch Support Site!

At Guild Launch we "eat our own dog food" by using one of our own guild sites as our support site. Every Guild Launch user is a member of this support site, and the site behaves just like one of your sites. In this way you can see how our features work, while you learn about our features. Feel free to access this site for information on new and upcoming releases, company news and updates, questions and/or concerns, and add-ons. You are also welcome to post any thoughts or feature suggestions that you may want to share. For further assistance, you can shoot us an email at support@guildlaunch.com or you can view other support options.

Scheduled Downtime Moved to Thursday 1 Hour Earlier

by GL_Support, 9 days ago

Greetings,

In an effort to better time releases and our scheduled downtime we will be moving the scheduled weekly downtime to the following:

Thursday 6-7:30am Eastern

This will also allow us to schedule releases for just after this window and if they require additional downtime we will still be in a relatively light usage time instead of moving into the "wake up" user time period.

We can adjust if we have to, but our data indicates this time should be better for most everyone.

We are in the testing phase of a new backup process that will allow us to backup the data as fully as we do now, but will not require us to take the site down. We hope to have it ready by the new year.

Until then we hope that this downtime schedule will better accommodate both our U.S. and non-U.S. users since it moves off some game's downtime schedule in the EU and moves to an hour earlier for the U.S. crowd without moving too much into the late late night raiding time slots.

DB Upgrade - Extra Downtime Tomorrow

by GL_Support, 12 days ago

Update 9:30am 11/11/2009

The database upgrade is complete. Thanks for your patience.

Original Message

After our backups complete tomorrow we will be taking our primary database server down to add more RAM. We were originally going to add RAM this past Saturday. However, due to ordering and vendor changes we were able to get twice the amount of RAM at the same cost so long as we waited until tomorrow. So, since more is almost always better when it comes to RAM we waited.

So, tomorrow morning we will be extending the downtime by about 40 minutes until 9:00am. We probably won't need all of that time, but it provides a buffer.

Also, for early warning. We will be moving the Wednesday downtime to Thursday next week and it will be happening a bit earlier in the morning to better accomodate our European users. We hope to remove the need for the weekly downtime completely by early next year (which is only 8 weeks or so away).

Ventrilo - Can't Hear Anyone Issue

by GL_Support, 12 days ago

Greetings,

After a few user reports and some tracking down of the issue we've discovered a bug in the new control panel that was leading to users not being able to hear one another in the Lobby of their ventrilo server.

The reason for this is that the "Silent Lobby" option was being turned on in the control panel when the server was initially created and/or during certain edits.

The fix is to login to the control panel at http://voicecp.guildlaunch.net/ and to click on the "Configuration" link on the left and to then disable the "Silent Lobby" option by unchecking it.

We're verifying the long term fix for this right now, but new servers should not be created this way anymore.
