re: FAQ: News Forum/Homepage Posts
Below or are the most often asked questions about the News Forum feature.
Q. What kind of forum can I use for a news forum?
A. It must be of security type "Public" or "Registered" This is because otherwise no one in your guild could see the posts.
Q. I made a post and it won't go to the home page. What gives?
A. The posts must be made as announcements. This allows you to make posts of other types in the same forum that don't go to the homepage.
Q. How do I make a post an announcement?
A. Under the posting area where you type your message in, there is a section called "Options" at the bottom of that section is a line that starts with "Post topic as:" Click the radio button for announcement. It should then go to the homepage.

Q. I made the post in a Public/Registered forum and I set the radio button to Announcement, why is it still not showing up on the Homepage in the "Guild News" frame?
A. There are several ways to limit to how many Announcements will be shown. To change these settings, go to your Guild's homepage. Next to :: Guild News click on edit. Make sure the radio button next to "enable" is turned on. Then raise the number of items to show to the desired amount. Also make sure that you have the desired setting for how old the Announcement posts that are shown are allowed to be.

re: FAQ: News Forum/Homepage Posts
Paste the URL of the screenshot into a forum post like this:
http://support.guildlaunch.com/guild/library/gallery/535/my_screen5391.jpg
Then select it and click the IMG button to make it look like this:
| Code: |
| |
And it will do this:
Enjoy!

re: FAQ: News Forum/Homepage Posts
I'm not sure if this should go here or not...
I only have 2 control groups for my website...
Admin and Officer. There are no other user groups. Members are not given a group.
When I make a poll on the forums, it seems that nobody, not even officers, can vote in the poll. How is this fixable?

Go to the Forum tab in admin, then go to "Forum Permission Type" then select the forum. Click the Advanced link on the next page and make sure the "Vote" column is set to "REG" which will allow your guild members to vote.

Just go to your news forum, make a post and make sure to select the "Announcement" radio button.

re: FAQ: News Forum/Homepage Posts
Hello. I'm having some difficulty posting announcements. I was not the first guild master of my guild, but the former GM passed it on to me when he left. He gave me admin privileges, but not moderator. Whenever I try to post an announcement, it tells me I have to me a mod to do so.
I haven't been able to change my status, and it is unlikely that he will respond to any messages I send him, as he hasn't responded to any other forms of communication.
What do I do?
(Edit: The former GM has been gone for several months, so it's been kind of aggravating not to be able to keep the homepage up to date.)

Go to the Permissions tab in Admin and create a new security group. Follow the steps in the video on that page for "Creating a Private Forum", but instead change the "Is Moderator" options on the forum settings. Then make sure you add yourself to the group.
That will give you moderator access everywhere.
