The guild launch profiler is used for many things. It is used for character bank exports, guild bank exports, and character info gathering.
The Guild Launch Profiler runs like any other mod. Much of the data collection is done automatically. However, to gather tradeskill info you must open the crafting window for at least one tradeskill, to gather bank info you must open and then close your bank, and to gather info on your pets you must open and close your pet stable.
How to run the mod:
1. Save the file to your desktop
2. Unzip the file into "World Of Warcraft/Interface/Addons/"
3. Login to WoW
4. Click Addons on your character list screen and make sure that "Guild Launch Profiler" is enabled.
5. The mod tracks most information automatically.
6. Open your bank window
7. Open your crafting windows
8. Open your stable if you are a hunter
9. The mod has now gathered all the information that it possibly can.
10. ( For character profiler) Upload the saved variables file found at "/World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/<Login Name>/<Server Name>/<Character Name>/SavedVariables/GuildLaunchProfiler.lua" to the character tab on located on your user profile page.
( For guild bank) Upload the saved variables file found at "/World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/<Login Name>/<Server Name>/<Character Name>/SavedVariables/GuildLaunchProfiler.lua" to the guild bank page.
In WoW 3.0 Blizzard made a change that may place your World of Warcraft directory in a public folder. You can find this by clicking Start then Computer and the Public folder link is on the left side of the window that opens. You can then go to /Public/Games and then follow all of the path related instructions from that point.
Vista Permissions Issues
Users running windows Vista sometimes encounter a problem where the file to be uploaded isn't at the right location or isn't there. This problem has nothing to do with our mod. The issue is how WoW interacts with security in Vista. Info on solutions is below.
Option 1: "Run as Administrator"
TRY THIS FIRST, IT ALMOST ALWAYS SOLVE THE PROBLEM!
The profiler may not be able to create the file due to security settings in Windows Vista. Users have reported that the following works:
Step 1: Right Click the WoW Icon and choose "Run as Administrator".
Step 2: Login to WoW and run the profiler as normal.
Step 3: Logout and WoW will create the file
From then on you may need to continue to Run as Administrator or to change WoW to always run as Adminitrator.
Option 2: Security
The profiler may not be able to create the file due to security settings in Windows Vista. Users have reported that the following works:
Step 1: Create the GuildLaunchProfiler.lua in the directory that the character profiler is expecting it
Step 2: Change GuildLaunchProfiler.lua security (under file properties window) to all modify (make sure you change it for all users on the PC)
Step 3: Change the security on the Character directory that the GuildLaunchProfiler.lua is located in and change the security to all modify by all PC users.
Option 3: Different Location
In addition WoW may put the files in a completely different location:
"C:\Users\<Account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account"
This seems to be different depending on whether you updated an XP installation to Vista with WoW already installed versus a new Vista with WoW installed into Vista. The second case (new Vista) seems to result in the file being put in the "C:\Users\" directory.
File Upload Troubleshooting
General Upload Tips
When creating a new character select update pets, trade skills, and bank. When updating a character only check them if you know you have opened a crafting window, you have opened your stable, and you have opened your bank otherwise the data will be deleted. In order to get the maximum amount of information our mod can gather you need to open and close a crafting window, open and close your stable window if you are a hunter and open and close your bank. No other actions are required for our mod to gather its data.
Incorrect Format Error Message
Make sure you are uploading the correct file:
Saved variables are located in:
"World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<User Name>\<Realm Name>\<Character Name>\SavedVariables\GuildLaunchProfiler.lua"
If you log into the game as TrollKiller on the server Nathrezim and profile a character named OrcWarrior then your saved variables will be:
"World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\TrollKiller\Nathrezim\OrcWarrior\SavedVariables\GuildLaunchProfiler.lua"

You can get the Character Profiler to work with Vista, it is a pain but it does run. The problem is a Vista security issue. I used the steps below to get around them and have been sucessfull in using the add on
Step 1 Create the GuildLaunchProfiler.lua in the directory that the character profiler is expecting it
Step 2 Change GuildLaunchProfiler.lua security (under file properties window) to all modify (make sure you change it for all users on the PC)
Step 3 Change the security on the Character directory that the GuildLaunchProfiler.lua is located in and change the security to all modify by all PC users
If you don't check the "Update Bank" and "Update Bags" cheboxes then that info won't be uploaded. However, if you have already uploaded it you will need to delete the character and reupload it without the Bank and Bags option checked. This is because the Bags are profiled automatically and we don't have a way to "clear" the Bag info from the profile.

I seem to have a problem somewhere that I am not sure how to fix. Everytime I try to unzip the file I get an error stating the the file is not Win32 compatible. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to fix this?
Hello
I am able to follow eveything up to when it want to me to upload a file that ends in .lua None of my flies have that. All my files that have blizzard_trainerUI.lua.bak I tried to upload them and I can't. Any Ideas?
Ok people, i know how to fix this problem and its REALLY REALLY easy, just right click the wow icon and click run as Administrator...the addon should work and put the .lua file in he correct directory.
Hi. I am running windows Vista and downloaded the guild launch profiler in the addons folder. I have also changed the security to all modify as suggested for Vista users. I can see orange text signifying that variables have been updated in the game, but when I attempt to update my character with the guildlaunchprofiler.lua I get the following message:
This import file appears to be in an incorrect format. Verify that you are using version of the Profiler mod or use your back button and check that the file you uploaded is the proper format.

Double check that you are uploading the file form the folder that is mentioned on the upload form. It's inside the /wtf/ folder.

Does the profiler add the information on all the people in my guild or just the ones that I have created?
It profiles each individual character of yours. It can't get anything but the most basic information about your guild members and it does gather that if you'd like to use it as a roster import.

Yeah I wanted to use it as a guild roster import because the armory import is very inaccurate and shows players that are no longer in guild and doesnt show any of the new players.
But when I used it it only uploaded the three characters that I have created myself.
The profiler file can be uploaded from multiple locations on the site. There is an upload form to use it as a roster upload at the bottom of the Character list on the roster page.

For some reason whenever I go into the folders /<Character Name>/SavedVariables/ ... the GuildLaunchProfiler.lua file is always missing. How do I get that file to go there without copying it in - as that doesn't seem to work.
I have tried everything suggested here but nothing seems to be working

I have the same problem. I installed the mod fine, made sure it's working. When i log on it says it is working but i still cannot find the guildlaunchprofiler.lua in the WTF folder. Please help. It would also be good if this mod tells you that it is gathering information as it seems that there are no commands to make it do things except for right clicking my own player.
